Both water white rosin and hydrogenated rosin are modified rosin of natural rosin.
Rosin is not a single compound, but a chemical mixture:
Rosin contains about 80% of rosin anhydride and rosin acid, about 5 to 6% of resin hydrocarbon, about 0.5% of volatile oil and trace bitter substances.
Hydrogenated rosin:
Since rosin is easy to crystallize, and the resin hydrocarbon in its molecular structure contains conjugated double bonds, it has high reactivity, instability and easy oxidation. In order to improve its oxidation resistance, hydrogenated rosin can be prepared by reacting rosin with hydrogen under pressure catalyzed conditions.
Water white rosin:
Water-white rosin is a polyol rosin with extremely light color. It is made from refined rosin as the basic raw material through hydrogenation, esterification and stabilization. It has the advantages of water whiteness, good aging resistance and good compatibility with polymer materials, which can meet the special needs of the adhesive industry.
It can be seen that the preparation of water white rosin needs to go through the step of hydrogenation rosin, but it is not limited to the step of hydrogenation, it is an excellent refined product.
