1. It is used as dehydrating agent, fiber treatment agent and analytical reagent. As a penicillium culture medium in the pharmaceutical industry, it is used as a raw material in the production of cortisone acetate, hydrogenated prednisolone acetate, dexamethasone acetate, betamethasone, and fluocinolone acetate.
